Text alerts and user names

Did you know that you can receive courtesy, overdue and hold pickup notices via text? It's easy to sign up for text notification:
1. Log into your account at http://catalog.oslri.net
2. Select "Modify Email/Text Alert Options"
3. Provide your contact information and submit
4. Receive a confirmation message on your phone and reply "Yes".

In addition, you can create a username for your library account so that you no longer need to type in a 14-digit barcode. Use the following steps to create a username for your account:
1. Log into your account at http://catalog.oslri.net
2. Select "Modify Email/Text Alert Options"
3. Type a username in the username field (between 6 & 25 characters long, special characters are not accepted)
4. Click on the "Submit" button
5. The next time that you log into your library account, just use type in your PIN and new username

Among Friends Newsletter - December 2014

Check out the December issue of the Among Friends newsletter where you can learn about everything that will be happening soon at the library! Please note that "Bees and Beekeeping" has been rescheduled to January 7th at 6:30pm.

To register for programs for adults, have your library card ready and click on NKFL Programs. Call the Young Readers' Desk at 294-3306 option 5 to register for children's programs.

New DVDs!

You can place holds on new DVDs that will be coming in this month by clicking on New Feature DVDs. To receive the list via email every month, click on Newsletter Signup, click a checkmark next to New Feature DVDs - Coming Soon, type your email in the box at the bottom of the screen, and click on the subscribe button. If you're a fan of Pinterest, you can place holds from our DVDs Coming Soon Board!. Concerned that there are a lot of people in line for a DVD that you'd like to borrow? We recommend that you place a hold anyway because the North Kingstown copy fills holds picked up in North Kingstown first. You may move up the list more quickly than you thought that you would!

Mobile Printing comes to the North Kingstown Free Library

The Library has launched PrinterOn mobile printing. Patrons can print while at the library, or send a document for printing from home or wherever they may be, then pick it up at the library within 24 hours. Use your smartphone, tablet or PC.

Just use the webpage address www.printeron.net/osl/nkfl to go to an online webpage form. Fill out the form and click on the green printer in the lower right corner.

Rhode Island Historical Cemetery Database

The RI Historical Cemetery Database is now available in the South County Room.
Over 3400 cemeteries, 474,700 gravestones and over 76,800 gravestone photos are included.
The data was gathered between 1990 and 2014 by 60+ volunteers.
In addition, over 100 nineteenth and twentieth century transcripts of cemeteries were consulted and checked in the cemeteries to get the most accurate gravestone data possible.

Kids eReading Room

The Ocean State Libraries eZone has recently added an eReading room for children. Now kids can access all of our downloadable childrens' materials, including e-books and audiobooks, from one convenient location - http://ezone.oslri.net/kids!

TumbleBook Library

The TumbleBookLibrary is a collection of TumbleBooks (animated, talking picture books) with fiction, non-fiction and foreign language titles, Read-Alongs (chapter books with sentence highlighting and narration but no animation), TumbleTV which consists of pre-set playlists of a sequence of books, and Tumble Puzzles & Games. TumbleBooks are created from existing picture books which we have licensed from children's book publishers and converted to the TumbleBook format.
You may want to explore the site by checking out all the books, games and features. Our catalogue has book descriptions, book reviews, and author/illustrator/publisher information.
