Library Closing Friday at 3:00 P.M.

Due to the inclement weather, the library will be closing at 3:00 P.M.
We will reopen Saturday morning at 9:00 A.M. Keep safe and warm!

Readers’ Hour

Join our reader's advisor, Maggie, for an hour of silent and relaxing reading (read anything you'd like!) in our coziest chairs. Stay afterwards for a brief discussion to hear what others are reading, or be on your merry way. This is a great group for those of you who don't want to be "told what to read" but love taking time out of your day to relax with a great read and possibly hear about other great reads. New members welcomed! Registration encouraged.

Reading We've Enjoyed

Reading We’ve Enjoyed: A Selection of Books Read by Library Staff in 2015
Each December, staff members at the library recommend books they have read during the year. Happy Reading and Happy New Year!

February Among Friends Newsletter

Check out the February issue of the Among Friends newsletter where you can learn about everything that will be happening soon at the library!

Would you like to receive the newsletter via email? If so, click on Subscribe and follow the instructions to automatically receive a new issue via email every month.

To register for programs for adults, have your library card ready and click on NKFL Programs. Call the Young Readers' Desk at 294-3306 option 5 to register for children's programs.

New DVDs for January!

You can place holds on new DVDs that will be coming in this month by clicking on New Feature DVDs. To receive the list via email every month, click on Newsletter Signup, click a checkmark next to New Feature DVDs - Coming Soon, type your email in the box at the bottom of the screen, and click on the subscribe button. Concerned that there are a lot of people in line for a DVD that you'd like to borrow? We recommend that you place a hold anyway because the North Kingstown copy fills holds picked up in North Kingstown first. You may move up the list more quickly than you thought that you would!

Tax Form Season

We are still waiting for tax form handouts to arrive at the library. In the meantime, they can be downloaded at https://www.irs.gov/Forms-&-Pubs for federal forms and http://www.tax.ri.gov for Rhode Island forms.
IRS and Rhode Island Free File programs that provide free online federal and state income tax preparation and e-filing services to lower and moderate income taxpayers can be found at
https://www.irs.gov/uac/Free-File%3A-Do-Your-Federal-Taxes-for-Free and http://www.tax.ri.gov/misc/efile.php .
AARP tax prep help is available beginning February 2 at the Beechwood House Senior Center. Call 401-268-1590 to make an appointment.

The History of Our Library

Library on Brown St.

The North Kingstown Free Library at 100 Boone St. opened in December of 1975. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of this occasion AND the 60th Anniversary of the Friends of the Library, we have created a short film and a book. The book, The North Kingstown Free Library 1899-2015: A Book of Memories and Clippings is on sale at the library for $10. Click here to see the film, The North Kingstown Free Library: The First 116 Years. We hope you enjoy it!

Thank you for joining us to celebrate the library's history!

On Sunday, October 25th, the library celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the opening of the library at its Boone Street location AND the 60th Anniversary of the Friends of the Library.
