Sunday Musicales—Michael Galib—Classical Piano
Michael Galib trained in composition at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. He is currently Music Director at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of South County and accompanist for the Rhode Island Children's Chorus. Having most recently studied piano with Manabu Takasawa, he has been teaching piano in Rhode Island since 2008. He conducted the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra in their 2011 Conducting Workshop. He has written works for varied instrumentations, including solo and ensemble pieces alike for voice, strings, brass, choir, and wind ensemble, and is the Winner of the 2004 International Trumpet Guild Composition Competition. Mr. Galib has sung with the Providence Singers, the New England Conservatory Chamber Singers, the Trinity Choir of Trinity Church, Boston, and the Boston Pops Holiday Chorus. He will present a recital of solo piano music including Brahms, Schubert, and perhaps some ragtime to mix things up!
The North Kingstown Arts Council and the Library have co-sponsored Sunday Musicales since 1986. The concerts are free but space is limited. The library will be open for the performances only.
