Night Stories: Antarctica and Autism
Learn about Admiral Richard Byrd’s second expedition to the Ice (1933-35), which he barely survived, and how his incredible adventure gave strength to a writer decades later when her son with autism, who had stopped speaking, also stopped sleeping. This combined story is the heart of Maria Mutch’s memoir Know the Night, published by Simon & Schuster. Know the Night is a nonfiction finalist for the Governor General’s Literary Awards 2014, and was chosen by Oprah.com as a “Memoir Too Powerful to Put Down.” Mutch is a resident of North Kingstown. Registration requested.
