This is an informal drawing club, we will provide pads and pencils, but you can also bring your own gear. Come to share your creativity, get drawing prompts, resources for artists, or just hang out and have fun! No experience necessary. Please register.

Private Webb, a native of Hartford, was recruited in 1863 and served in the Twenty-Ninth (Colored) Regiment, Connecticut Volunteer Infantry in several battles in Virginia. Actor Kevin Johnson will portray Private Webb from an emotional and exciting first-person perspective that vividly illustrates the struggle of the African-Americans in the Colored Infantry during the Civil War. He tells of his early life in Hartford, his recruitment and training, and the traumatic final battles of the Civil War. The presentation is based on extensive research in the collections of the Connecticut State Library and the Museum of Connecticut History at 231 Capitol Ave, opposite the State Capitol in Hartford. Presented by the Cocumscussoc Association at Smith’s Castle. Please register.

The library is starting a Minecraft club! This club will meet monthly throughout the school year, but it jumps around between Fridays and Tuesdays so watch the newsletter or give the YR desk a call to learn our upcoming dates! Come with your own login or use one of ours to play the game!

Having retired from teaching at the Community College of Rhode Island as a Professor Emeritus, Mr. Kaplan now teaches at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at URI in addition to performing. Teny Gross, Executive Director of the Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence, and other members of the Institute traveled to Ferguson, MO to offer assistance during the protests that occurred following the shooting of Michael Brown on August 9th. They will share their reflections on that trip, talk about what it means to practice nonviolence and tell us about the important work that they do right here in Providence. Please register.

Local Authors Meet and Greet
This event is open to all Rhode Island authors who have published a book in the last year. Books may be self-published. This is a chance to present your book to the public. The format for the program will depend on how many authors sign up.
Authors should register by November 19th.
